Weekly notices, week 3, term 2, 2017

Ruma Weta - Rooms 16 & 17, Weekly Notices, Term 2, Week 3 (15th - 19th May 2017)

There will be no sausage sizzle this Friday 19th or next Friday 26th due to the JPC production and crosscountry being on these two days.

Mrs Hall will be away for most of the week. Whaia Eliana will replace her in Room 17.
We heard on Saturday that Mrs Bernie Hall’s Mum passed away. Very sad, particularly that she passed away so close to Mother’s Day. Our kind thoughts and prayers are with you Mrs Hall and your family. I know you will have a lot to do with funeral arrangements and it will be an excellent send off for her.

Introduction to the New-ish Google sites
When: Thursday lunchtime
Where: Room 4
What: Google sites is a super easy and uncomplicated way to curate and share content. You do not need to be an IT expert to use this tool.
Why: It adds to your tool kit and is an easy and fast way to share. And because you won't believe how easy it is.
Who: Middle and senior students, Teachers, Teacher aides, parents, anyone over the age of 6....
Prizes: You could even win a computer monitor!!!!

You may have seen on the news over the last few days that a worldwide ransomeware problem has hit many people's computers. Be especially wary of links from overseas. We are encouraging all children to be very wary of clicking on any links on the computer that they are unsure about.

It is Primary Science Week this week from the 15-19 May. We are already doing a lot of science in Ruma Weta, but we may do some special activities this week.

On Friday 19th May our Seniors and Middles have been invited to JPC’s production “Into the Woods”. The show starts at 11.00am and we will be walking down and back. We will need a couple of adult volunteers per class to help with this. We already have two volunteers in Ruma Weta. The cost of the show for children and adults will be covered by the school.

We will have our reading log draw for the last holiday reading programme at singing on Wednesday morning.

Ruma Weta - Rooms 16 & 17, Weekly Notices, Term 2, Week 2 (8th - 12th May 2017)

What a great start to the new term. Thanks for making sure all students are in winter uniform.
We will add some links to the homework label for learning the times tables. We will also be using time table songs as part of our maths warm-ups.

Well done to all our Ruma Weta kids who completed the Mini Marathon on Friday!
What a wonderful event and great sporting spirit! Our school cross country is on the 26th May at the Redwoods 1:30-3:00pm. So we will continue with our running training each morning.

This Friday Bernie is at a RE course, so there will be a reliever on Friday.

Remember to bring back the reading logs.

Good luck to all our soccer, mini ball, netball, rugby and hockey players as the season begins!

Wet day toys during a wet term

Ruma Weta bought a number of technology style construction kits at the end of last year using our class budget. These have come in handy and been very popular with the children on the many wet lunchtimes we had towards the end of last term. Below some of our boys try to build as high as they can.

Below is also a photo from our 'washing of the feet' liturgy at the end of term one.
