Room 16, Weekly Notices, Term 4, Week 2 (16 - 20th October 2017
The first week back went well..thank you for making sure your child is wearing the correct uniform and is on time for the school start of the day 8:45am.
- Hats are compulsory from now on.
- Sandles must be worn in and out of the school grounds.
- Sunscreen is needed from now on also. Please ensure your child puts some on before school.
- Week 2 means Ruma Weta will be swimming. All students to bring togs and a towel. Our classes swim in the mornings.
Ruma Weta are hosting the school assembly this Friday at 2:05. Please come along and support us in our assembly if you can. Students are to wear jeans, tee-shirts and the girls can wear a dress for this.

Next weekend we are have a working bee at our school. We have a number of jobs on our list ranging from handy-man jobs, spreading cushionfall under the senior playground, maintenance on the senior playground, replacing rotten palings on our boundary fences, repairing the tops of our garden plots, putting up the shade cloth and I am sure there will be plenty more jobs to do. Come along and meet other parents, enjoy a morning tea and a delicious lunch. Children are welcome also. For catering purposes please let the office know if you can assist, even if it is for an hour or two.
We would like all our school families to consider having their child make their First Holy Communion and Reconciliation. This is a notice from our parish.
ENROLMENT FOR THE SACRAMENTAL PROGRAMME: LAST CHANCE TO ENROL. THIS TUESDAY.
The Sacramental Programme is for children who wish to make their First
Holy Communion and Confirmation and also a serious commitment to the
practice of their Catholic Faith. The enrolment is at St Mary’s Catholic
Church 7.00 pm, THIS TUESDAY 24th October. There will be a briefing
on the Sacramental Programme, dates will be given and a fee of $25.00 per
child is to be paid either by cheque or cash. Children who have not been
baptised in Rotorua will need to bring their baptismal certificate.
The children are required to be 8 years old by 1st November 2017. Children
who are not baptised and would like to become Catholics are also welcome
to be a part of the Sacramental Programme.

Welcome Back Everyone!
I hope you have all had a great rest and that your child is looking forward to coming back to school!
Reading logs are due back so bring them in this week. Please keep up the reading at home. Remind your child to take a journal home off the shelf each day/week for extra reading at home and do take time to visit the library.
Ruma Weta are collecting pictures of holiday happiness! If you have some great pictures of your holiday..please send them in.
Saturday, 28th October we are having a Working Bee at school. The day starts at 8.00am and children are invited to come too. Morning tea and a BBQ lunch will be provided.
Swimming is on even weeks in Term 4, so we start on Week 2. Remember to encourage your child to bring their togs on every day in weeks 2, 4, 6, and 8. The water of the swimming pool is 30 degrees, so warm like a tropical ocean.
Please bring back reading logs as soon as possible. Individual and class prizes are in the offering.
Summer uniforms are to be worn from Monday and a school hat must be worn at break time. Children must own their own hat and only use the very few spare class hats we now possess as a last resort if they forget their own hat.

Friday 20th October 9.15 am - 12.15 pm Discover China Day - whole school participation in a range of China activities.
October is the month of the Rosary. Your child will be learning some prayers from the Rosary and learning about what the Rosary is. Each week the school will recite a decade of the Rosary, middles are on Rosary in week 2.
